Ant and Dec lose Best Presenter at NTAs for another year as Sir David Attenborough beats competition

The biggest story from the National Television Awards last year was that Ant and Dec, after a tremendous winning streak that felt like it might never end, lost out on the Best Presenter Award for the first time in 24 years. And despite being nominated again in the same category this year, Ant and Dec – who front ITV's I'm a Celebrity and Britain's Got Talent – are not the 2026 recipients. Instead, national treasure and beloved broadcaster Sir David Attenborough has been awarded the accolade. The crowd at the ceremony for the NTAs was filled with cheers when Sir David Attenborough was announced. Not in attendance himself, the award was accepted by his long-time collaborator Mark Brownlow, who shared a message from the documentarian. "Thank you all for the compliment," Sir David Attenborough's words began.
