The actor died Sept. 23 surrounded by loved ones after "a fearless journey with cancer," which he was diagnosed with in 2024, according to an obituary published by Moss-Norris Funeral Home , based in St. Charles, Illinois.
Mortimer's career extended beyond television to military service, modeling and construction, but his family remembered his devotion to his wife, Christie, and their daughter, Hunter.
"He was curious and determined, willing to take chances, start something new, change direction and figure things out along the way," the obituary read. "But of all the titles Mark held throughout his life, the two that mattered most to him were husband and dad."
