Another red alert status for Visayas grid on August 8
The Visayas grid in the Philippines has been placed under red alert status due to a significant power supply shortfall caused by multiple plant outages. Residents in Cebu may face rotational brownouts as demand exceeds available capacity.

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — Rotational brownouts may again be implemented in parts of Cebu today, August 8, due to an expected power supply shortage in the Visayas Grid.
In an advisory issued at 8 a.m. Saturday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the grid’s available capacity stood at only 2,103 megawatts, while peak demand could reach 2,327 MW.
Due to the supply shortfall, the Visayas Grid was placed under red alert status for five hours, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

A yellow alert status is also in effect from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. to midnight.
