Another N.S. hospital gets AI weapons screening installed

Nova Scotia Health has installed AI-powered weapons screening technology at the South Shore Regional Hospital. This is part of a broader provincial initiative to enhance security across a dozen hospitals.
Why it matters
The integration of AI in public infrastructure for safety purposes highlights the growing trend of automated security in healthcare settings.
Another hospital in Nova Scotia is using artificial intelligence (AI) to screen for weapons.
Nova Scotia Health says the new detection system is at the new South Shore Regional Hospital emergency department entrance. The hospital just reopened earlier this month after a major redevelopment.
According to the health authority, now that the emergency department is open, patients should use the new entrance, near the former main entrance.
There will be another screening unit at the main hospital entrance at a later date.
