In their congratulatory speeches, Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže and Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna thanked Katarina Magere for her contribution to strengthening the cultures of both countries. The Language Award of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Estonia was established in 2010. Its aim is to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries by promoting the acquisition and use of the Latvian and Estonian languages, the activity of Latvian-Estonian and Estonian-Latvian translators in the translation of fiction, political, scientific and other texts, as well as to promote the contribution of Latvian and Estonian language researchers and language teachers to the popularization of the Latvian language in Estonia and the popularization of the Estonian language in Latvia. The Language Award comes with a prize of 5,000 euros, funded equally from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Estonia.
