Angry builder from Ashford smashed roof tiles at Chilham couple’s dream home amid pay row

A disgruntled builder hired to restore a couple’s “dream home” was caught on camera smashing the historic property’s roof tiles in a row over pay.

James Fuller had fallen out with the owners of the quaint Tudor cottage in Taylors Hill, Chilham, after he kept raising his price for the renovation - from an initial £800,000 to a staggering £1.4 million.

A court heard Christian Magg and his husband Greg Taylor cut ties with Fuller over the spiralling costs and his alleged sub-standard work at the Grade II-listed property.

However, when the 44-year-old realised he would not be paid, he launched a harassment campaign in which he caused more than £160,000 in damage.

Footage shared on social media shows how Fuller, wearing a hoodie, had climbed onto the roof before “relentlessly” hurling tiles to the floor.
