Android 17 QPR2 adds App lock to Pixel - 9to5Google

Google is introducing a native App lock feature to Pixel devices in the upcoming Android 17 QPR2 update. This feature allows users to secure individual applications using fingerprint or PIN authentication.
Why it matters
Enhanced privacy and security features on mobile operating systems are increasingly important for user data protection.
Besides visual changes, Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 also introduces a native App lock feature to Pixel devices.
When you long-press an application for the Actions menu, “App lock” appears at the bottom to join App info, Pause app, Widgets, Remove, and Bubble. This will require Fingerprint Unlock or PIN before an application can be opened, with the system authentication sheet appearing upon tap.
You can go to Settings > Security & privacy > App lock to see everything you’ve enabled and quickly add or disable.
Android 17 QPR2 will be available this December.
