Andhra Pradesh Vote Parirakshana Vedika seeks extension of SIR of electoral rolls
Members of the Andhra Pradesh Vote Parirakshana Vedika have urged the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to extend the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls till the end of September and make public the lists of voters whose names have been deleted and those who have been issued notices. They also sought that the lists be provided to political parties.
In a letter addressed to the CEO on Tuesday, the Vedika members said the ongoing revision had resulted in the deletion of 44.89 lakh voters from the draft electoral rolls in the State. Of these, 15.22 lakh were identified as deceased, 7.37 lakh as duplicate entries registered at two or three places, and 22.30 lakh as persons whose whereabouts could not be traced, they said.
