Andhra Pradesh police reportedly opened fire on a man who allegedly attacked a constable with a knife while trying to escape near Komatikunta Lakulu village in Krishna district in the early hours of Tuesday (September 1, 2026). The injured constable, Srinivas, is undergoing treatment in a hospital and his condition is stable, the police said.
On Monday, the accused, Avinad, had allegedly attacked a policeman near Nallajarla village in East Godavari district and escaped.
On receiving information that he was moving near Komatikunta Lakulu, a police team led by Kankipadu Circle Inspector B. Ravi Kumar cordoned off the area.
The accused allegedly attacked the police with a knife and injured the constable. The CI opened fire and took him into custody.
