Why it matters
This initiative leverages AI and mobile technology to significantly improve the experience and safety for millions of pilgrims visiting the Tirumala shrine, showcasing digital transformation in public services.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday virtually launched ‘Venkatadri’, a mobile application developed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to help pilgrims locate essential facilities at Tirumala and access round-the-clock assistance.
Powered by artificial intelligence, the app features a voice assistant to guide devotees to drinking-water points, darshan entry gates, medical centres, toilets, parking areas and food outlets. Its offline navigation facility enables pilgrims to access directions even in areas with poor or no internet connectivity.
The application maps more than 350 locations across 25 categories, including hospitals, bus stops, luggage counters, accommodation allotment centres, pilgrim help desks, Kalyana Kattas, police stations and the Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba Annaprasadam Complex.
A one-touch feature provides access to emergency contacts, police assistance and the TTD helpline. Pilgrims can also check bus routes and timings. The ‘Mark My Spot’ feature helps them save their parking location and navigate back to it.
