ANC’s IEC candidates’ list ‘glitches’ hit more municipalities in KZN, including eThekwini

The ANC’s candidate list troubles in KwaZulu-Natal are bigger than first disclosed, with the party now confirming that technical glitches have hit three municipalities ahead of the deadline for the November local government elections.
Provincial task team coordinator James Nxumalo told a media briefing at the ANC’s Durban offices on Thursday that the party had encountered submission challenges in the eThekwini and Ray Nkonyeni municipalities, in addition to the previously reported issues in uMshwathi.
“We have also identified technical capturing errors in eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality and Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipality that resulted in a small number of ward candidates being reflected against the incorrect ward,” Nxumalo said.
