Two criminal cases have been opened against DA federal finance chair Mark Burke over R4 billion the SA Reserve Bank suspects his company illegally transferred out of the country.
Burke founded Kastelo , a fintech company running an algorithmic crypto arbitrage trading model, and had served as its chief executive until he became an MP in June 2024.
MK Party MP Andile Mngxitama opened the first case at Cape Town Central police station on Friday, submitting a 49-paragraph sworn statement.
The central bank said Kastelo used its clients' foreign investment and single discretionary allowances to move money offshore.
