Anantapur MLA conducts surprise inspection at GGH

Anantapur MLA Daggupati Venkateswara Prasad conducted a surprise inspection of the Government General Hospital in the city on Monday (September 21, 2026).

He inspected the wards across all departments and interacted with the patients, enquiring about the medical services being provided. He also inspected the Out-Patient departments and spoke with patients waiting in the queue.

The MLA expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of Heads of Departments (HODs) during OP service hours and sought an explanation from the hospital superintendent.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prasad said that while the hospital has a capacity of 560 beds, the number of in-patients exceeds 1,200. He stated that between 2,000 and 2,300 outpatients receive medical services daily, with numbers reaching up to 3,000 on Mondays. He mentioned that patients come seeking medical care not only from within the district but also from neighbouring States.
