Analyst Jeff Pu is not impressed with iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max pre-orders

Analyst Jeff Pu reports lukewarm pre-order demand for the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. High prices and limited hardware upgrades are cited as primary reasons for the slow start.
Why it matters
As a bellwether for consumer electronics, Apple's sales performance provides insight into broader consumer spending trends and the saturation of the smartphone market.
Analyst Jeff Pu has been keeping track of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max wait times for the various configurations. Based on that data, Pu says that the pre-order wait times are “lukewarm”.
The stats are as follows. The most popular 256GB and 512GB models are showing 3-4 week wait times for most colors. Pricier 1TB and 2TB models are available immediately if you want a Silver phone, with 1-2 weeks wait times for Black and Glacier models and 3-4 weeks for the Burgundy version.
It’s easy to tell that the new Burgundy color is by far the most popular option, while the Silver color doesn’t get much love from iPhone buyers.
