Amor smiles even when sick, and now strangers are helping her get surgery

Five-year-old Amor Mitchell is described by her family as a kind and loving child who smiles even on days when she is sick.

Born with Down syndrome and congenital heart defects, Amor has spent her childhood battling frequent ear, nose and throat infections.

Her mother, Monique Mulder, said Amor has a lasting impact on everyone she meets and that she loves her family dearly.

And it’s that love that has rallied Amor’s community and strangers to support her and her family in their time of need.

“She is loving, kind, funny and a little cheeky, but in a good way,” said Mulder. “She loves playing with her friends, baking, swimming, running around and feeding animals,” she said.

However, behind her happy personality and loving nature is a child who has faced many medical challenges.
