Amid opposition, Karnataka govt. to take up 120-km elevated corridor network
The Karnataka government is moving forward with a 120-km elevated corridor network in Bengaluru despite public opposition. Officials are currently inviting tenders and initiating land acquisition processes to reduce city traffic congestion.

Amid continuing controversy over Bengaluru’s elevated corridors and other large infrastructure projects, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday reviewed plans for 13 elevated corridors spanning 120 km.
The agenda for the city showed that the government is currently in the process of inviting tenders for 11 of the proposed corridors, covering 75.6 km, at an estimated cost of ₹13,262.7 crore, according to details presented at a review meeting.
It was also been decided that the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will take up land acquisition for the elevated corridors. A survey of properties likely to be affected by land acquisition for the 11 corridors had already been undertaken.
