DENPASAR, Bali – An American man who told immigration officials he had tried to renew his Indonesian residence permit online but failed to follow up on the process has been deported from Bali after authorities found he had remained in the country long after his permit expired.
The 30-year-old US citizen, identified only by his initials DWW, was deported on July 30 and sent back to the United States with Dallas as his final destination, according to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Centre (Rudenim).
DWW had been living in Indonesia on a family reunification limited stay permit, or ITAS, sponsored by his Indonesian wife. Immigration authorities said the permit was valid until February 16, 2025.
When questioned by officers at the Denpasar Immigration Office, DWW said he had attempted to extend his residence permit online but did not monitor the application or follow up on the process.
