AMD has reached a record 30.3% share of the x86 PC CPU market, narrowing the gap with Intel. Simultaneously, Arm-based processors have captured a 15.3% share of the overall PC CPU market.

For the first time, AMD’s share of the x86 CPU PC market, covering both mobile and desktop, has topped 30%, according to Mercury Research.
AMD’s share was 30.3% in Q2 against Intel’s 69.7%. Two years ago it was 21.1%.
AMD’s share for desktop CPU shipments had already overtaken 30% in recent quarters, now shipments for notebook PCs have increased, pushing the total volume up.
In Q2, AMD’s desktop share was at 34.9% while its mobile share was 28.9%.
Meanwhile, says Mercury, Arm processors have taken a 15.3% share of the overall PC CPU Q2 market.
