A senior lecturer at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, Dr Matthew Uwuigbe, has died in a hotel room after an alleged sexual encounter with a 21-year-old commercial sex worker.
Uwuigbe was said to have checked into the hotel with the woman, identified as Angela Defa Jacob. According to the police, he later sent her out to buy water, but she returned to find him dead on the bed.
The incident was reported to the police at about 8pm.
The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident and said three people had been arrested in connection with the case.
