B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) and other Allied Health Sciences students staged a protest at the Gandhi statue in Visakhapatnam, demanding a monthly stipend of ₹15,000 during their internship.
Students from AMC, DDR and Vydya College said they were working at government hospitals as part of their internships but were not receiving any stipend or financial assistance from the government. They said their families were bearing the costs of food, accommodation and transport during the internship, placing an additional financial burden on them.
The students urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan to intervene and release the stipend. They also appealed to the Health Minister to visit King George Hospital and hear their grievances.
