A person has reportedly been stabbed on a central Auckland street in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened near the 77 Convenience Store on Victoria St West, close to the Sky Tower.

Police officers were called to the scene at around 5.36am “following reports of an altercation between two people”, a spokesperson said.

Hato Hone St John said it was notified at 5.43am, and sent a critical care unit and a transporting ambulance to respond.

The ambulance service transported one person in a minor condition to Auckland City Hospital, a spokesperson said.

Police earlier said one person was moderately injured during the incident.

An employee at the 24-hour store known as Seven Mart told the Herald he’d swapped with his graveyard shift colleague shortly after police arrived at the scene.
