Fetterman’s surprise appearance – and praise of his fellow Pennsylvania senator, Republican Dave McCormick – raised fresh questions over his loyalty to, and future inside, the Democratic party.

In a statement later on Wednesday, Fetterman insisted that he would not switch parties.
