All Blacks v Wallabies: Dan Carter backs Beauden Barrett to shine in Bledisloe Cup
Rugby legend Dan Carter has expressed confidence in Beauden Barrett's ability to lead the All Blacks in the upcoming Bledisloe Cup test against the Wallabies. Barrett is stepping into the No 15 position following injuries to key teammates, with Carter highlighting his leadership and experience as vital assets for the squad.
Why it matters
The Bledisloe Cup is a premier international rugby rivalry, and the strategic shift in the All Blacks' lineup due to injuries significantly impacts the team's performance expectations.
Dan Carter has backed Beauden Barrett to play a key role in the All Blacks squad when they play the Wallabies at Eden Park tomorrow.
Barrett will start at No 15 for the first Bledisloe test after Damian McKenzie shifted to first five-eighths because of injuries to Ruben Love and Richie Mo’unga.
Speaking to Australia’s nine.com.au, Carter felt the 35-year-old would be more than just a mentor to the younger players in the squad.
“He’s just such a valuable part of any environment that he’s a part of, and you can’t take experience for granted, you know, in big tournaments under pressure.
“Having someone that you can rely on like Beaudy is just so valuable. So whether it’s mentorship, but also just standards and leadership and work ethic that younger players like Ruben and Josh [Jacomb] will be looking up to.
“That’s the standard that he’s set for so long.
