Alienware responds to AW3926QW uniformity complaints, tests CPC toggle

The company confirmed to TFTCentral that it is testing a potential toggle related to CPC, or Convex Power Control. The feature is currently enabled without any user control on the AW3926QW.
CPC is an OLED protection feature designed to reduce the risk of image retention. On the AW3926QW, it can lower brightness around the edges of the panel under certain conditions.
TFTCentral observed the behavior during its review and describes the result as a visible uniformity difference or vignetting effect. Similar protection systems are used on other OLED monitors, although some manufacturers allow users to disable them.
Alienware currently provides no option to disable CPC on the AW3926QW. According to TFTCentral, this means the feature can activate in a range of situations where some users may find the brightness difference distracting.
