Alexandra Eala suffers setback before the Wuhan Open has even started as the seedings are confirmed

Tennis player Alexandra Eala is preparing for the Wuhan Open, though she faces a minor setback as she will start in the first round rather than receiving a bye. Several high-profile players have withdrawn from the tournament, potentially improving Eala's chances for a successful run.
Why it matters
The Wuhan Open is a significant WTA 1000 event, and player performance here impacts global rankings and professional career trajectories.
Alexandra Eala is preparing for her first match since the Asian Games as she takes on the Wuhan Open in China.
Eala claimed the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Japan for the Philippines, playing at the tournament instead of the China Open. But she will return to WTA action at the Wuhan Open , which takes place from 12-18 October.
It represents the 21-year-old's first WTA event since late September, when Eala lost to Tatiana Prozorova in her opening match at the Singapore Open. As the third seed at the tournament, she received a first-round bye, but that situation will not be repeated in Wuhan.
