Alexander, Philpot lift Alouettes to dominant win over Elks
The Montreal Alouettes defeated the Edmonton Elks 48-30 in a dominant CFL performance led by quarterback Davis Alexander. The win extends Montreal's winning streak to six games and reinforces their status as a top-tier team.
Why it matters
The game serves as a significant indicator of team strength in the Canadian Football League as the season progresses toward the playoffs.
MONTREAL — Davis Alexander knows the Montreal Alouettes sent a message to the rest of the CFL. Just as he anticipated. Alexander threw four touchdown passes and Tyson Philpot caught three as the Alouettes routed the Edmonton Elks 48-30 in a matchup between two of the league's best Saturday. "Probably a statement game for the rest of the league, but you know our standard,” Alexander said from a rowdy Alouettes dressing room. “We think our offence is the best and our defence is the best, so it's expected. “It's a standard.” Alexander completed 22 of 28 passes for 352 yards with one interception and also rushed for his first touchdown of the season, improving his record to 19-1 as a regular-season starter in front of a season-high 22,535 at Molson Stadium.
