AITUC opposes proposed site for Perundurai RTO

The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has urged District Collector S. Kandasamy to reconsider the proposed site for the Perundurai Regional Transport Office (RTO) and establish the office at the location previously identified — near the Government Erode Medical College and Hospital.
In a representation emailed to the District Collector, AITUC district president and State secretary S. Chinnasamy said the Motor Vehicle Inspector’s Office opened in Perundurai since 1998 and was upgraded as an RTO in 2008. The office had been functioning out of a rented building since its inauguration, he said.
Mr. Chinnasamy said the construction of a permanent building for the RTO has been a long-standing demand of vehicle owners and residents of Perundurai. During the previous government, a proposal was made to construct a building at ₹5 crore.
