AITA rejects panel’s proposal to have five SOM in EC
The All India Tennis Association held an Extraordinary General Meeting to discuss constitutional amendments required by the National Sports Governance Act. Disagreements persist between the court-appointed administrator and the association regarding athlete representation and age limits for officials.

The Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) is understood to have been held in a cordial atmosphere in New Delhi on Sunday (July 26, 2026).
Justice (retd.) Gita Mittal, the court-appointed administrator tasked with bringing the AITA’s Constitution in line with the National Sports Governance Act, addressed the Meeting at the beginning before amendments to the Constitution were put to vote clause by clause, The Hindu has learnt.
While results are awaited, a simple majority will decide which version of the amendments make it to the revised governing document.
As reported earlier, there are disagreements between the administrator-led committee and AITA regarding athletes’ representation in the Executive Committee (EC) and age-limit for office-bearers.
