AIIMS for Kinalur in Kozhikode: more organisations jump on to the bandwagon

Political parties in Kerala are protesting the potential relocation of a proposed AIIMS facility away from Kinalur in Kozhikode. Local leaders argue that Kinalur is the ideal site due to existing land acquisition and infrastructure connectivity.
Why it matters
The location of a major national medical institute is a significant political and developmental issue for the state, impacting healthcare access and regional economic growth.
Reports about more locations in Kerala being considered for the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for the State have led to objections from different quarters in Kozhikode.
While the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] launched an agitation a few weeks ago demanding that the State government prefer Kinalur in the district as its location, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has also jumped on the bandwagon now.
