AICTE former chairman and two others to get honorary doctorates from VTU

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has decided to confer honorary doctorates on T.G. Sitharam, former chairperson of the AICTE; Sabitha Ramamurthy, chairperson of CMR Jnanadhara Trust; and M.P. Shyam, president of the RV Educational Institutions Trust.

Governor and Chancellor Thawarchand Gehlot will confer the honoris causa degrees on the three educationists during the 26th convocation of the university in Belagavi on Saturday, Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar said in Belagavi on Wednesday.

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara will be the chief guest, and Basavaraj Rayaraddy, Minister for Higher Education, will be present on the occasion.

A total of 74,763 undergraduate students and 329 PhD scholars will receive their degrees. They include 74,009 in BE/BTech streams, 725 in BArch, 12 in BPlanning and 17 in BSc.
