AI, US war against Iran to dominate UN General Assembly

Iran's president has struck a defiant tone in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, telling the US that Iran would not "bend at the knee".

"(US President Donald Trump) must know that the resistance of the Iranian people will only increase in the face of sanctions, increased pressure, increased bullying. We will never bow our head or bend at the knee," President Masoud Pezeshkian said.

The Iranian president told the assembly that Iran will not surrender in the war with the US, but believes in diplomacy to try to end the conflict.

The US delegation walked out at the start of President Pezeshkian's speech.

The US mission to the UN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Strait of Hormuz, conduit for a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas before the war, has become a focus of tensions between Iran and the US.
