AI Fuels Video vs Video In UP: Akhilesh Yadav's 'Chillum' Dig Gets 'Sanatan Insulted' Charge From BJP

The BJP and Samajwadi Party are trading accusations after AI-generated videos depicting political figures were circulated ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections. The BJP claims the SP's video insults Hindu saints, while the SP claims it is a response to BJP-aligned smear campaigns.
Why it matters
The use of AI in political campaigning raises concerns about misinformation and the potential for digital content to escalate communal and political tensions.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been weaponised ahead of the Uttar Pradesh 2027 election contest, with the ruling BJP on Tuesday accusing the Samajwadi Party of insulting Hindu saints with its latest video that references donation irregularities at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and takes potshots at Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. That video, released by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, was itself a retort to a BJP video that called him corrupt."Dear residents of the state, now Akhilesh Yadav has himself removed and discarded his mask," the UP BJP unit posted on its social media channels.
