The pilot of an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi tested non-negative for a psychoactive substance after the aircraft suffered a sudden altitude drop over Odisha, according to the preliminary report of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB). The report has called for urgent action by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).The finding relates to the Pilot-In-Command of the Air India flight that was operating from Phuket to Delhi on August 4. The aircraft suddenly lost around 300 feet in altitude while flying over Odisha, injuring 20 passengers and four cabin crew members.The AAIB said the pilot was found non-negative for a psychoactive substance in a confirmatory test.
