Ahead of Northeast monsoon, Virudhunagar district gearing up to prevent dengue-causing mosquitoes

The Virudhunagar district administration is implementing proactive measures to prevent a dengue outbreak ahead of the Northeast monsoon. Officials have been instructed to conduct regular inspections, manage water stagnation, and organize medical camps to curb mosquito breeding.

Virudhunagar district administration is gearing up to prevent dengue cases ahead of the Northeast monsoon.
Though the district has reported only five dengue cases in September and eight cases in October, Virudhunagar Collector Sharanya Ari has advised the officials to take all preventive measures against the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.
At a review meeting held here on Monday, Ms. Sharanya instructed the officials to identify the breeding grounds for mosquitoes and remove them immediately. She also advised the local bodies to prevent stagnation of rainwater in houses and public places. Water tanks should be kept closed and the environment should be kept clean.
The officials have been instructed to take up fogging activities in fever-infested areas and also to conduct medical camps.
