Aggrieved property owners stage dharna seeking removal of their properties from Section 22A prohibited list in Karimnagar

Property owners in Karimnagar staged a protest demanding the removal of their lands from a government-mandated prohibited list under Section 22A. The protesters claim this designation prevents them from selling or transferring their residential properties.
Why it matters
Land rights and administrative restrictions on property transfers are significant issues for urban development and individual financial security in India.
Scores of property owners from Rekurthi and other parts of Karimnagar staged a dharna under the aegis of the BRS city committee on Monday, demanding the immediate removal of their properties from the Section 22A prohibited list.
The protesters, including the owners of residential plots and houses, staged a sit-in at the entrance of the Collectorate, alleging that the inclusion of their properties in the prohibited list had prevented them from selling or transferring their holdings.
