In a mysterious manner an aged woman, who was living alone in her house in Yerwadi in Ramanathapuram district, was found dead on Friday.
As the victim’s gold earring was missing and the ear was also cut off, the police suspect it could be a murder for gain.
Police said that Muniyandi’s wife Arumugam (aged about 70 years) was living alone in Yerwadi North Street Colony. She has two daughters. One of them lived in Yerwadi.
On Thursday night, the younger daughter had come to her mother’s house and given her food and left to her place at around 9 p.m., preliminary investigations revealed.
