Agartala Government Medical College adds 100 MBBS seats

The Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) has increased its MBBS seats from 150 to 250 for the 2026-27 academic session.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Monday (September 21, 2026) that the expansion is expected to bolster the State’s medical education framework and healthcare delivery systems, offering more opportunities for aspiring medical students.

In a statement, Dr. Saha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for their ongoing support in expanding medical education and health infrastructure in the region. He said that with this increase, AGMC is on par with top Indian medical colleges like Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi and B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad.

These colleges have been granted the maximum capacity of 250 MBBS seats as approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
