A day after severe congestion hit east Bengaluru’s Gunjur-Varthur locality due to ongoing civic works and poor road conditions, the Whitefield traffic police, along with local residents, took up temporary patchwork on key stretches in the area.
On Thursday, hundreds of schoolchildren were reportedly stuck in buses for over two hours, even on routes as short as 5 km, triggering anger among parents. The traffic police on Thursday said that civic works on SH 35 (Varthur-Sarjapur Road), coupled with white-topping works on Gunjur Club Road and poor infrastructure, had led to the situation.
