After Supreme Court Judge's Complaint Against Rajasthan HC Acting CJ, SC Collegium Recommends Permanent CJ Appointment

The Supreme Court Collegium has passed a notification on August 31, 2026, recommending the appointment of Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal as Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court. Justice Agarwal is presently a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court.The decision was made amid controversy over "misuse of powers" by Acting Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. It is to be noted that Justice Sandeep Mehta of the Supreme Court had recently written a series of letters to the Chief Justice of India raising serious allegations of maladministration by Justice SP Sharma as the Acting CJ of the Rajasthan High Court.
