Aflao border security boosted as Immigration Service rolls out specialised training

The Ghana Immigration Service has launched a capacity-building program for officers at the Aflao border to improve security and service delivery. The training covers document fraud detection, human trafficking, and customer service to address evolving migration trends.
Why it matters
Strengthening border management is critical for regional security and economic stability in West Africa, particularly at high-traffic entry points.
Efforts to strengthen security and improve service delivery at Ghana's busiest land border have received a boost as the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) at Aflao rolled out a comprehensive capacity-building programme for its officers.
The initiative, which has drawn participation and support from key security and regulatory agencies at the border, is aimed at enhancing coordination, professionalism and operational efficiency in managing cross-border movements.
Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DCOI), Mr Mark Asamoah-Boakye, Aflao Sector Commander, said the training was designed to equip officers with relevant skills to respond to emerging threats, technological changes and evolving migration trends.
