Afghanistan floods kill at least 20 people, with more than 100 missing

Severe flooding in Afghanistan's Nuristan province has resulted in at least 20 deaths and over 100 people missing. The disaster has destroyed local infrastructure, including the provincial capital's municipality and market area.

Prefer the Guardian on Google At least 20 people have been killed and more than 80 injured in flooding that hit Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, the country’s disaster management agency said on Monday.
In Parun, the provincial capital, a further 105 people including the mayor were missing, said Feraidon Samim, a spokesperson for the Nuristan governor.
Journalists familiar with the remote north-eastern area said a market, shops and other buildings were located near Parun’s riverside.
