Affordable housing: State says 10,000 units complete, 8,000 occupied

The government has taken stock of the development projects it prioritised for implementation after assuming power four years ago, outlining what has been completed, what remains in progress and the challenges slowing delivery.

In a communique following the 15th National Development Implementation Committee meeting, the government said about 10,000 affordable housing units have been completed and 8,000 occupied, as it seeks to expand one of its flagship pillars to benefit even security officers.

The meeting, chaired by Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, said a significantly larger number of housing units are currently under construction or at various stages of implementation.
