Why it matters
Development financing is essential for infrastructure growth and poverty reduction in emerging economies.
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and Angola’s Ministry of Planning have unveiled the Angola Development Effectiveness Review (CDER), assessing results from the partnership over 2016–2025 and outlining priorities for the next phase of the country’s transformation. The review was presented in Luanda on 16 September and examines how AfDB financing, policy dialogue and technical assistance have aligned with Angola’s development priorities across economic diversification, infrastructure, human capital and regional connectivity.
According to the report, AfDB committed approximately $2.9 billion to investments in areas including energy, agriculture, water and sanitation, governance, youth and entrepreneurship, innovation, and private sector development since 2013. The AfDB and the Government say the results recorded over the last decade show measurable progress for large numbers of Angolans, alongside a foundation for deeper collaboration going forward.
