RESIDENTS AND FARMERS near the Kilcash area of Slievenamon are being advised to be mindful of smoke and changing conditions in the area.
A significant smoke flare-up was reported in the Kilcash area, arising from the ongoing wildfire incident on the mountain.
It comes as a number of fires in the nearby Comeragh mountains in Co Waterford have been reported on Sunday, with Coast Guard Rescue 117 helicopter and local fire service units responding.
In an update issued on Sunday evening for Slievenamon, Tipperary County Council said that emergency services had successfully contained the majority of the affected mountain area.
Response efforts are now focused on a few remaining hot spots.
Many of Sunday’s smoke flare-ups are associated with “changing and swirling wind conditions”, the council said.
The council added that there remains “no risk to lives or property” arising from the wildfires.
