Advanced cryoanalgesia unit opened at JIPMER
JIPMER has inaugurated a new cryoanalgesia unit to provide advanced interventional pain management for patients with chronic conditions. The technique uses cold temperatures to interrupt nerve signals and reduce pain.
Why it matters
The introduction of specialized pain management facilities improves healthcare access and treatment outcomes for patients with complex, persistent pain.
The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) has opened an advanced Cryoanalgesia unit at the institute.
The institute in a release said Cryoanalgesia is an advanced interventional pain management technique that uses controlled application of cold temperature on targeted nerves to reduce transmission of pain signals.
By producing a temporary and controlled interruption of nerve function, the procedure could provide sustained pain relief in selected patients while supporting improved functional outcomes.
