Adoor SI suspended over ‘unholy nexus’ with history-sheeter

A sub-inspector attached to the Adoor police station has been placed under suspension for allegedly taking the help of a person on the police’s rowdy list while attempting to arrest an accused in an attempt to murder case in Karunagappally. The action against the police officer Jinu follows an oral inquiry ordered into the incident. The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Thiruvananthapuram range, subsequently issued the suspension order.

The departmental inquiry found that Mr. Jinu had taken along Sarath, who had been booked under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA), to assist the police team in apprehending the accused. Sarath is also on the police’s rowdy list and is an accused in several criminal cases.
