Adani, NTPC among applicants for Rs 37,500 crore coal gasification scheme
India has received seven applications for its Rs 37,500 crore coal gasification scheme, which aims to reduce reliance on imported fuels and industrial feedstocks. Major companies including Adani Enterprises and NTPC are participating in the initiative to boost domestic production capacity.

India’s coal gasification scheme has got seven applications in its first round, including three proposals from Adani Enterprises, apart from NTPC, Talcher Fertilisers, Gallantt Ispat and Shyam Sel & Power.The scheme was approved by the Cabinet in May with a Rs 37,500 crore financial outlay with the aim to scale up coal gasification to produce industrial feedstocks and fuels from domestic coal and cut import dependence.Adani Enterprises has submitted three separate applications for urea production.
