Activists urge transfer of Ramanathapuram from TNSTC Kumbakonam jurisdiction to Madurai
Activists and residents in Ramanathapuram are calling for the district's TNSTC bus depot to be transferred from the Kumbakonam division to the Madurai division. They argue that the current administrative setup is logistically inefficient due to the 250-kilometer distance between the district and its headquarters.
Why it matters
Improving administrative efficiency in public transport can significantly reduce bureaucratic delays and improve service delivery for local commuters and employees.

RAMANATHAPURAM Activists and the public advocate for the administrative jurisdiction of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Ramanathapuram district, to be transferred from Kumbakonam division to Madurai to cut down on bureaucratic bottlenecks. The Kumbakonam TNSTC division currently oversees 12 districts: Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur, Tiruchi, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Karur, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukottai, and Karaikal. Madhavan, a Ramanathapuram-based advocate, argued that placing Ramanathapuram under the Kumbakonam division makes no logistical sense.
