Activists seek urban employment guarantee scheme using KKRDB funds

Activists of the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Struggle Committee have called upon the State government to introduce an urban employment guarantee scheme in the Kalyana Karnataka region using funds allocated to the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB).

Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi on Thursday, activists K. Neela, Meenakshi Bali, Arjun Bhadre, Sudham Dhanni, S.B. Mahesh, and others said a large number of poor people from urban areas of the region were migrating to Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and other cities in search of employment.

They stressed the need to give greater priority to improving the human development indicators of the region instead of focusing predominantly on physical infrastructure.
