The 14 th suspect of the Veeravanallur double murder case was shot at the leg by police after he allegedly attacked a constable with a machete as the police team tried to nab him from his hideout in the forest near Veeravanallur on Friday.
The police received information that Krishnan alias Ajith, 28, of Moolachi near Veeravanallur, who is one of the accused in the murder of Kalimuthu, 35, of Veeravanallur and his five-year-old son Jayaraj on July 2, was hiding in the forest near 80 Feet Channel near Veeravanallur.
Sub-Inspector Snehan and his team rushed to the spot on Friday morning. The suspect attacked constable Paramasivan with the machete he was carrying, and inflicted a cut injury on his left hand.
